The population of Chandigarh Urban Complex (CUC) comprising Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula has been growing fast at a rate of over 5% per year in the last decade. There has been a phenomenal growth in the population of vehicles as well especially the two and four wheelers in this period and their rising use due to rising household incomes. Chandigarh has the highest per capita income in the country. Besides nearby towns are also growing fast and have large traffic interaction with the Chandigarh. In the absence of adequate and quality mass transport system, people are using the personalized modes which is not only leading to congestion on road network but also increasing environmental pollution.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed among the Governments of Haryana and Punjab, and Chandigarh Administration for the formation of Greater Chandigarh Transport Corporation (GCTC) on Thursday for developing a comprehensive integrated multi-modal urban and suburban commuting system for the Union Territory and surrounding areas in the states of Haryana and Punjab. Also the administration has been working to develop cycling tracks all over the city.

However the citizen participation is very much required to frame a integrated and detailed urban mobility plan for “City Beautiful”. So, the Chandigarh Administration hereby invites ideas, views, opinion and suggestions from the residents so that the objective of “Smart Urban Solutions” could be achieved.

We should work companies working on automated cars to come up with solutions for public transport. Instead of building costly metro, we should explore the idea of building corridors on which only automated cars will run. This should be much cheaper and easier to manage.

metro hi ek uppye jo chd ki traffic ko solve karega but ye char city ko kaver karna hoga, chd. Mohali panchkula and baddi because sari industries baddi main hain. ye kam next five year main complete hona chhaye otherwise chd main pair rakhane ko jagah nhi milegi. street light ko LED street light main badal do. three wheeler ko solarize kar do. himachal PB.& HR tino state ka thrust CHd par hi hai.

Introduce solar rickshaw instead of CNG, Diesel and Petrol. Also improvement is required in public transport. Small rehri walas are now continuously increasing which needs to be stopped on immediate basis. smart city means more affordable services to all which can be improved with the inclusion of more IT tools

CHANDIGARH - MOBILITY SOLUTIONS 1. Metrorail as an alternative for Chandigarh was rejected by one of the MHA appointed expert committees 6-7 years back. Feasibility was found questionable, UT Administration may refer to this report before proceeding in the matter in greater detail 2. Midi and mini buses are required in good numbers, hence, may be rapidly added to the fleet. 3. Quantum of traffic - route-wise be scientifically analysed Regards, Rajkaran Singh Bhatti 9780005656

Virtual Wall concept projects laser images when traffic light is red... Govt. can use this to reduce accidents, mainly on accident spots and also can put advt. to earn revenue to operate such service...If any vehicle tries to cross such signals / advt. then they should be fined heavily. https://www.facebook.com/interestingengineering?fref=photo

All buses should be low entry for access to physically challenged people. dedicated platform at a specific height across the country for buses to stop such that the bus kneels one side like volvo for ease of access

Please ensure the construction going on in sector 45 BURAIL area NO FLOOR LIMITS unplanned NO PERMISSION required This is ridiculous for PLANNED ChANDIGARH. CENTRAL GOVT SHOULD INTERVENE in this issue..this is serious for the people living in that area. One is CYCLE LANE OR RICKSHAW build but not maintained & PEOPLE ARE NOT USING IT & MORE CYCLE LANES WHICH DO NOT HAVE.
