Pravasi Bharatiya Divas has emerged as a wonderful forum to strengthen the bond between the diaspora and the people of India. It offers unlimited opportunities for India to gain from the skill and insight of the diaspora, who have been the pride of India across the world.

This forum seeks inputs on how to further sharpen the focus of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas for the overall development of India. Share your views on what more can be done to make the interaction between the NRIs and the Government more productive and impactful. How can India receive more investment not only from the diaspora but also from the world at large?

If you find global best practices of how various Governments have been innovatively engaging with their diaspora through such summits, you can share the same here too.

I would like to put more emphasis on getting benefited from their presence abroad rather than Donations alone. Shall we request them to use merchandise that promotes Indian tourism , silk , yoga , culture , Quality yet cheaper products , colleges , companies , languages etc. All in all they can be a free mode of advertisement for Brand India. Note: 1.Lets not miss to leverage even short term migrants. 2.Other Source of advertisement could be there shops , hotels , vehicles..never ending list

Given the industrial productivity contraction, and the decline in the domestic market growth, i dont think the RBI is doing enough. The RBI doesnt want to meet any short term target. It wants to fix its own mide term target, which it may or may not meet. Everybody and every institution should be made accountable, otherwise we would never have the drive to meet the target.

1. NRIs and PIOs are interested in Indian Investments, provided it is more attractive than placing in other parts of the world. 2. They are very much worried about very high red-tapism and corrupt elements in implementing Indian Projects. 3. They are also worried about poor infrastructures and unfarourable labour laws. 4. We must encourage NRIs in manufacturing sector very much, instead of pushing them to Indian Stock Markets. 5. We should create attractive project modules and showcase the same

...Modi and his cabinet (along with RBI Govenor Rajan) have blown our entire planet away with announcements, progress and results these last 6 months and I think if they just keep doing what they are doing...NRIs and residents will bond much faster as our ICT further develops and more investment flows into the country. Thank you so much Prime Minister Modi and to your cabinet for all that you do.

....as we should, recognizing and understanding that India is pre-dominantly a Hindu nation and the only one where there are more than 30 million Hindus on the planet, unlike those of other religions. So while all Indians should be treated the same and conversions should not happen (out of respect for all our religions) understanding our historical and current demographics better will help remove existing communication barriers and help us make decisions faster...I hope anyway. Prime Minister...

Good evening and Happy Good Governance Day to you; thank you Prime Minister Modi and to your cabinet for all that you do. In 6 months, I think it is very apparent about what needs to be done to further enhance the bond between NRIs and resident Indians for increasing a strong favourable investment destination in India. The FCNR scheme was wonderful and one I'm proud as it is one key area as an NRI where I am treated "specially". Improving governance and while all Indians have the same rights..

The first generation of NRIs who went to US as students are retiring. Many of them spend a few months in India and a few months in US. These are highly skilled individuals and many want to give back. Employing them as guest faculty in various Indian colleges will give them a stronger reason to come to India, a small salary but most critically the satisfaction of giving back to India. It will also greatly help in skill development in India.
