Similar model can be applied in India which is only possible with strong collaboration between Industry and Universities. I believe this would be win win situation for Industry and Students. Students in India are innovative but definitely they lack proper platform and funding. For example I would like to elaborate about General Motor and US Department of Energy's EcoCAR program. I admire efforts of new government on education. I would like to give some suggestion based on my master's level study experience and system of US. Industry in US is extremely generous when it comes to funding for engineering research in Universities; from where major innovations comes which drives this country's economy. Internships, Co-op programs (ex. where student study for 3 months and work for 3 months) which give students early exposure in Industry.

Engineering education should be changed to the Sandwich pattern as existed earlier.6 months class room ,next 6 month industry/construction site etc,again 6 months theory followed by 6 months on the job. Or Work and Learn model, student to work full time on the job for the practicals for the full duration of the degree, while after work they will participate in theory classes. AMIE was on this model, then what is the need to derecognise the same. Please encourageEvening and Part Time course

Our graduation years should be 4 year.Where 3 years theory cum training and 1 year practical either on an industry or other fields. For a chemistry graduate, we can teach him about soil,water,crop,fertilizer,food testing or making various organic and inorganic products. In three year, he will be trained to do these things with regular classes. After 3 year, he will go to an industry After 4th year, the industry give him a performance report.

Similar initiatives can be implemented in other sectors like defense etc. and at a larger level. Also industries should be encouraged to join hands with similar companies and build customized education platform in colleges or to build colleges on similar lines. Instead of letting the big politicians to build money churning educational institutions, companies should be told to build institutions and impart education that they want in their students.

Students right from high school to colleges should be encouraged to visit projects that are undergoing and in which they have an interest. for e.g.- the Metro construction project in Delhi (DMRC) is being executed behind close doors. Nobody can see what's happening inside. If those sites can be opened for students on particular days it will help them in developing curiosity. It will motivate them to do something more. Those underground constructions and equipments can be a big inspiration.

Learning and doing method should be promoted instead of rote method of learning. this means that for technical courses, on job training should be provided so that students are industry ready by the time they complete their course. There is a wide gap at present between the content taught and the need of the industries.

Advanced countries have excellent model of partnership between private/public sector industry and educational institutions. The partnerships run for research, design, improvements and quality of the industrial success. In return the industry funds these institutes. The industry has an international norm to spend at least 2% of their turnover in R&D. whcih the industry in India rarely does. Therefore it must be made mandatory for industry to fund research activities and Education.

Many private institutions are doing wonders in the eduction system. For example DAV Public Schools run more thn 7000 schools & colleges in the country. They have their own publications and an excellent system of education and child overall development. This could be nationalized and used to guide the government institutions. Many large industry run their own colleges and private institutions that have excellent models. These could be used to improve education across the country.
