Employability of our students is a matter of concern. At the other end of the spectrum is need for greater investment in research. Industry academia linkages are essential to meet both these ends. While we have various efforts in this direction, these have not fructified as expected. We need to find out how and what is needed for a more fruitful partnering.

I was looking for category something like "Education role for Nation's growth". But since didn't find I am posting here. My views are shared here for one goal "How education in our country can lead to Nation's growth". When I look at few statistics of my batchmates (NIT Warangal and IISC bangalore) I am at conclusion that the top talent produced by this nation is not able to take direct role in Nation's development. I have a proposal which can change this scenario.

A lot of universities abroad have 'one semester study abroad' or 'internship' option in their higher studies last semester. Is it not possible to design a curricular like that? The concerning institute shall be responsible for the training/internship of their students. This shall open study of industrial processes to the students which they hardly learn in their academics. Accordingly an exam (theory and practical) should be conducted on whatever they learnt in industry.

Present system of Apprentiship to be taken up by the student in industry to be improved. Best is to engage similar industry groups themselves to find & train their manpower. Skill development by institutes has been a failure. Institutes are OK only to impart knowledge

The IIT at Gandhinagar could be adopted by one of the local industrial giants. His job would be to pump his CSR funds into that institution. The funds could be accounted for by the institution. The details could be hosted on the institution website.

Sir,the following suggestions are made: a) a girl oriented IIT which can be nominated from the existing sanctioned IITs, probably the one at Gandhinagar. b) It could include a management faculty so theta you have the best corporate heads from this institution in the years to come. Also It could be true symbol of Nari Shakti in the year 2027. 10 yrs after it has started.

My suggestions continue: 5. CSR route and Company Act may be used for implementation. 6. Each company may have a HR/Training person devoted for liaison and support to institutions. Prof S Chaturvrdi

Some of the suggestions are: 1. Qualified and higher level management persons may devote at least 100 Hours per year for sharing the best practices with Tier 2 and Tier 3 institutions. 2. Each company may commit itself to entertain at least 10-15 visits per year for educational purposes from institutions of Higher Education. 3. Each Company may commit itself to train at least 10 students per year for internship. 4. Each company may share its data for projects etc

Training the trainer is very important. Hence there must be periodic training program for the teachers so that they are up todate.

Identifying the aptitude of student and train them in a vocation from early stage will enable the child to face the world and also contribute to the society.
