During the year 2015-16, India spent Rs.4.82 lakh crores on imports to fulfill domestic demand. To reduce the import burden, and also to work towards to a greener environment, it is proposed to avoid usage of Petrol/Diesel for one day in a week.

Our Hon’ble Prime Minister has urged all citizens to avoid usage of Petrol/Diesel for one day in a week. He has said that if 125 crore Indians pledge to do this, the dream of a ‘New India’ can be achieved.

I agree and abide by the views and suggestion given in this platform. But, I would like to give a suggestion _ we all are knowingly or unknowingly, willingly or unwillingly using various apps which are locating our positions and may be tracking it. My suggestion is why not to utilise internet services to manage traffic control system. Let me explain, I have been using Google maps for long time and the way they have improved and the suggestion they automatically provide when you are about to

62% of the fuel consumed in India is by two wheelers based on a study by the govt's Petroleum Planning and Analysis cell. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/62-petrol-used-by-two-wheelers-27-by-cars-survey-shows/articleshow/22955410.cms Two wheelers are generally used for transport intra city for 50km or less daily and for deliveries Govt. should mandate that all local deliveries are done by electric or manual two wheelers. This will save petrol not for one day but forever.

Sir, we are ready to avoid petrol/diesel for one day in a week. What we need is -- The best public transport system, as this is not there people go for buying vehicles as there is no option. We can completely avoid vehicles if this public transport system becomes the best service. The roads are the worst, they are built in such a way that damage occurs within one year. Secondly, use of cards on petrol pumps is still not proper, we face charges even after cash back given by you.

Normal human tendency is to act only if they see some benefit in it for them. If there are e-cards issued for petrol or diesel and any month a person shows savings in the form of less spending, 50% of the savings shall be added in the form of credit to the card or credit in any other form. This could be a good start towards encouraging reduced usage of petrol & diesel.

The best idea would be to improvise the usage of Public transport in each and every city. There's a saying that If rich uses the public transport, then the country is at a good going. If the public transport is made cheaper and reliable, I am sure that the people would lessen the usage of Private transports. Also, the statutory body should make sure that the proper public transport is on time everytime.
