Occupational Threat: Delivery and Cleaning Staff There are no official daily national statistics tracking how many delivery riders, garbage collectors, or other field staff are threatened or attacked by dogs. However, anecdotal evidence and local reports confirm this is a major daily occupational hazard across all large Indian cities.

The official figure collected by the government tracks cases reported to health facilities across the country.  • Official Annual Cases (2024): 3,717,336 (approximately 37.17 Lakh)  • This figure, reported to the Lok Sabha, averages to over 10,000 incidents per day nationwide.  • Trend: The number of reported cases has been increasing since the COVID-19 pandemic dip, showing a significant surge (for example, rising from 2.18 million in 2022 to 3.7 million in 2024).

I believe a major reason behind many gender-based crimes is the lack of healthy emotional outlets, especially for young men. When emotions like rejection, frustration, or loneliness go unprocessed, they sometimes erupt into harmful behaviour. To prevent this, India needs stronger initiatives in emotional health — including school-level emotional education, accessible counselling, community helplines, and digital mental-wellbeing tools. Teaching people, especially young boys and men, how to understand and express their emotions safely can significantly reduce violence against women and improve overall societal harmony. Promoting emotional literacy is not just a mental-health issue; it is a public-safety issue.

Respected Pradhanmantri ji, . My daughter, Shrestha Majumdar (14), designed a commemorative stamp for the 80th United Nations anniversary, selected out of 7,40,000 participants across India, including university students and professional artists. It was launched nationally, and Dr. S. Jaishankar held her stamp on stage during the ceremony. Designing a national stamp is not a small achievement. It becomes part of India’s identity and history, and a 14-year-old contributed to that history. . Yet weeks have passed with no ceremony, certificate, or personal acknowledgment, and even her school had not been intimated. The stamp has travelled across the country, but the child who created it has received silence. This is not for fame or spotlight. When a child achieves something extraordinary for the nation, the nation should stand by that child. Recognition of young achievers builds motivation—not only for them, but for every student who dreams of contributing to India.
