We have achieved the removal of cascading tax rates in indirect taxation with GST. It is a great achievement by the Government. The composition of direct tax rates also needs to be relooked into. A base tax rate + a surcharge + a cess makes it very difficult for taxpayers to compute and pay. The thought that the entire tax will be enhanced by a surcharge if the income crosses a threshold, is not an encouraging one. A higher income, entailing a higher slab only for the incremental amount, is a more tenable thought. These can be replaced by rejigging the slabs and introducing more slabs with higher tax rates. This rationalisation will be very helpful while doing computations. The slab rates should also be linked to some index so that there is no need for a legislative change every time.

Dear Admin, Below are my suggestions for Salaried Employees. 1) Increase current amount slabs for medical insurance for family and parents. 2) Increase preventive health check limit from 5000 to 50000 3) Extend the timeline for electric vehicle interest until 2025, as most of the vehicles have battery stations issue and all cars are expensive 4) Increase limit of 80C to 5 Lakhs for government to get more cash inflow 5) Increase limit on home loan to 5 Lakhs as there is huge prices increase of homes now. Below are the suggestions for GST Slabs 1) Please increase more taxes on Alcohol 2) Increase taxes on Pubs, Clubs, Bars etc which have alcohol servings as they are the primary causes for accidents and crimes in cities. 3) Increase taxes on Junk Food and packed foods General Suggestions 1) Make one card for one india ie Aadhaar card should have information on Voter eligibility, Driving License, PAN Card and Ration etc. 2) Put limits for Health and Education Fees.

GST payment is required to be made the next month after the event of taxability. The event of taxability is either invoicing or payment whichever happens first. In case of invoices with a large credit period , there is a possibility that the GST payment has to be done by the biller even though the biller has not realised the proceeds of sale or service. Suggestion is that GST payment period has to consider the credit period offered to the customer. Else it creates a cash flow difficulty to the supplier esp. MSMEs. Request that this be considered in an appropriate way. This may create a short collection in one month that can be recouped thereafter.

The Basic Exemption Limit in terms of Personal Income Tax needs a substantial increase as it is long overdue. Also there should be an investment deduction similar to 80C where the focus is on mix of Mutual funds and Govt. Bonds where it is directly linked to the sectors of the economy which needs thrust. This should be controlled by an industry indicator which can be varied every quarter so that government can easily monitor and alter the sectors of the economy which requires attention.

Government should own Hospitals (Basic health - Alopathy / Sidda / Ayurvedic ) and Basic schools (upto 8th) and should give cost effective services. For the Income tax payers other taxes should be waived off including GST, sales and service taxes. Target to be given to Government employees to match the private with similar works and give incentives.

Tax should be linked with employment generated upto certain extend. E.g. if a company is generating more employment they can get tax advantage in that year

Those individuals who earn an income upto ₹500000 are not required to pay any tax. However, those who earn ₹500001 are required to pay a tax. And that tax is much higher than the increase in the income over ₹500000. There is no marginal relief to these taxpayers, like the one being available for surcharge and cess. A request is that in case of any such rebate, the tax on those who cross such income limits should not be higher than the quantum of income above the limit. One more request is to increase the basic taxation limit itself. The tax slabs should be linked to an index and not require a legislative action. It will ensure that a large number of people will get a tax relief. The wealth of information available today, as is evident from the Annual Information Statement, is sufficient enough to track and ensure people do file returns if they earn taxable income.
