Existence of insanitary latrines is the root cause of manual scavenging. As per the ‘Houselisting and Housing Census Data, 2011’, there were about 26 lakh insanitary latrines in the country in 2011. All existing insanitary latrines need to be identified and either demolished or converted into sanitary latrines under the provisions of the MS Act.

What innovations can be used to convert insanitary latrines into sanitary latrines in shortest possible time?

Availability of water 24 hrs a day at latrines can keep them sanitary.Inculcating the very basic civic sense of keeping our surroundings clean will also keep these places clean. In case of public latrines the ownership of these places inside our mind required.common psychology is its public place.let me use it once.Monetary fine may also keep these latrines clean to some extent. At home we must clean our latrines clean once in a week ourselves to understand the value of cleanliness.Hardwaytolearn

Its a undignified work practice in India a shameful. Every government announced number of programs but not effectively implement to tackle insanitary latrines. Administration should make strict regulation to accountability of civil servants, local regional govt, institutions and state govt. Those who violate norms should be punish. Strict action needs to be tackle and make arrangements to provide credit facility to manual scavenger irrespective of their repayment capability.

For Vikas of India and ' Make in India' to happen, Indian labor participate in these efforts . Like Japanese we should show protests by wearing black bands & continuing to work without going on strike. Employers' should ensure good working conditions , proper housing facility for worker to live with family instead of forced bachelorhood to leave his family in far off village. Education enhancement , on the job Skill development for future progress for all workers must be available .

We all knows that fuel pricing coming down day by day, but unfortunately its not benefited to normal people in india, Example FMCG / foods products value is not coming down, vendors are still maintaining the same price which was 6 months back, my request to government that keep the price board outside the grain / vegetable shop.

like mobile rail coaches, why cant there be mobile latrines operated by service provider. these latrines, can come daily morning at few identified points. then after 9 AM, it can go back to some yard like place for its cleaning. this idea can be started on pilot basis in some cities.

irregation and drinking water schemes should be same with the water filteration unit at village level.this will save govt. from refitting new systems as drinking water schemes are already running at majority of places.only few rennovations will be needed.the other only thing which will be required will be increasing the operation times of already existing motors and pumps.when water will run at maximum pipe-tplerable limit for 24 hourly then maximum utelisation of nonrenewable resources at wit
