Saharanpur being a historically and strategically important city in Uttar Pradesh has been nominated as one of the participant among the few selected cities in Uttar Pradesh for Smart City Challenge being organized by Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India.

Saharanpur Municipal Corporation (SMC) has again started preparing Smart City proposal for Round 3 after not figuring in the first twenty, fast tracked category and second round.

Citizen Engagement has been an important component of any plan preparation and similarly a lot of impetus is being given on the same at every stage of plan preparation.

SMC has formulated vision and goals under the basis of city profile, growth potential, SWOT analysis and results of citizen engagement of previous round. Through this discussion, it would like to invite your suggestions and views on the vision and goals so that it can be improved further and accordingly proposals can be framed.

The vision and goals framed by SMC are as follows:

Vision
Saharanpur aspires to leverage its craft of wood carving and rich agricultural produce to create employment opportunities, sustainable infrastructure, enhanced quality of life, efficient governance and safe city.

Goals
• Wood Carving and Agricultural Produce: Positioning Saharanpur as the #1 center for wood carving and create employment opportunities;
• Sustainable Infrastructure: Provide basic amenities as well as sustainable and smart infrastructure and increasing citizens accountability towards it;
• Quality of Life: Enhance quality of life through improved physical and social infrastructure and clean and green environment;
• Efficient Governance: Citizen first and accountable governance; and
• Safe City: Safer city for all groups and sections of the city.

Saharanpur Nagar Nigam aims to engage its citizens for its valuable ideas suggestions and comments to be incorporated in vision and goals
