Every year 27th September is celebrated as World Tourism Day. This year the theme of World Tourism Day is Tourism and Rural Development. Tourism helps rural communities hold onto their unique natural and cultural heritage, supporting conservation projects, including those safeguarding endangered species, lost traditions or flavours. Tourism has proven to be a lifeline for many rural communities. The sector is not just a leading source of employment, particularly for women and youth but it also provides opportunities for territorial cohesion and socio-economic inclusion for even the most remote regions.
Our villages and the people who live there are a true custodians and manifestation of our culture.
As we work towards more sustainable development of our country, developing related hard and soft infrastructure and promoting tourism in rural India is much required.

Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with MyGov invites you to share your views ideas on Rural India- How it can leverage tourism.

Life in an Indian village is elementary, where the people need to wake up very early in the morning to go to fields and work, and their life is not easy at all. It is a daily routine of the village where the men will go to work in the fields, and the women of the house will stay behind to manage the household so that when the men come back from work in the evening, they can be served with delicious food.

India's most visited tourist place will be Single Horned Rhinos, as there number is increasing but poaching is happening every day Government should take more strict decissions for conservation of Indian Rhinos and to save them from extinction. Tourist can come to see Indian Rhinos and because of that they can stay at nearby villages as homestay and it would be beneficial for villagers because of money coming from housestay and also for animals because of their preservation.

We should invite people from all over the world to experience Indian rural life with home stays in villages. to start with, model villages should be chosen, where level of education and general awareness is high. The willing hosts should be trained in basic etiquettes. it will be a good source of income for village people. Government can invite social / service organisations like Lions Clubs too, as such Clubs have Youth Exchange Programs where Host families are selected from all over the world
