National Highway Authority of India currently is planning to build a citizen facing interface which can cater to all highway related needs of NH commuters. NHAI already has an Android mobile application called Sukhaad Yatra (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rsawh.nhia&hl=en_IN&gl=US) which needs to be upgraded and advanced further.

Citizens are invited to share their ideas on how the Sukhad Yatra app can be improved with additional features/ integrations to better service the needs of citizens. The end outcome is to improve the experience of NH commuters and build a robust medium of 2-way communication.

The tool will not be limited to but can cover the following areas:
● Informing users of construction and maintenance activities
● Allowing users to register complaints pertaining to the condition of the highway or highway activities such as toll (for eg. If wait times for a toll gate are too long or if FasTag is not working at a gate)
● Allow users to rate highways on various characteristics of the highway around their experience as a rider (on both negative and positive characteristics of experience, for example whether the NH offers a scenic route or view)
● Allow user to access emergency and first response services on the highway
● Allow users to access information on wayside amenities, petrol pumps, EV stations etc. Information about location of facilities along the route can be searched on Google Maps but this is hard to access for non smartphone users.
● Allow users to report traffic congestion, accidents, debris, toll-relates issues, request EV charging points etc to local command centres (Eg. Waze)
● The interface should be able to cater to user-needs of commuters with and without smartphones
● The interface should have a strong focus on UX, intuitive and centred around the day-to-day needs and experience of highway users.

The interface can also operate as a platform through which multiple existing private and public applications can link to such as NH’s toll free number, toll management system etc or travel related apps (MapMyIndia, Google Maps etc) which already have a high user-base. The platform should leverage strengths of existing IT applications and not reinvent where necessary.

The design should cater to all kinds of NH users such as:
● Commercial (trucking etc) who may or may not have a smartphone and a user design which caters to their needs
● Personal long-distance commuter which may not be as frequent but may have access to smartphones
● Local residents who live around the highways and use it more frequently than private long distance commuters

Submissions to this can be in the form of app mock-ups/ prototypes, presentations, concept notes on platform and other interfaces, list of desired features by commuters etc.

Tha last date of submission of ideas is 15th June 2022.

There should be a proper sign boards where wild animals cross the National Highway. In some areas it is not visible. Due to this some wild animals and dogs are hit by speeding vehicles. An awareness among the drivers on drunk and drive should be made. Due to long drive and not taking adequate rest they consume liquor and drive causing accident. Rash driving among youngsters is also a major problem. An awareness among college students should be done in colleges

1. We must give priority for making our roads wider & better. After this only, we can do better in other fields. 2. We should give importance to public transport, use of private vehicles must be last resort. 3. Atleast, 2-3 NH are required to connect out boundaries with other states. 4. GOI should talk to Govt of Shri Lanka to connect both countries by sea link. 5. There must be transparency of system for NHAI linked portals. Thank You!

There are many stretches on highways where there are no mobile signals. There is no lighting also on highways. These stretches are dangerous for travelers as miscreants are aware of this situation and try to loot and harass the highway users. NHAI shall ensure the availability of mobile networks and lighting on highways to avoid such incidents

The responsibilities and duties of NHAI shall be reiterated. NHAI seems to be too focused on the construction of new highways. The maintenance of highways has taken the back seat. In this situation, it is suggested to bifurcate the NHAI into two verticals. 1) National Highways Construction Corporation Ltd. (NHCCL) With the main objective of construction of new highways. 2) National Highways Maintenance Corporation Ltd. (NHMCL) With the main objective of Operations and Maintenance of the highways. The completed highways by NHCCL shall be taken over by NHMCL which shall take over the responsibilities of O&M of highways. This shall perhaps improve the conditions of highways in India.

From the beginning of NHAI roads in Tamilnadu there has no following of road rules "KEEP LEFT" and the sign boards are also not laid for it. So the riders in NHAI all are driving their vehicle on right. Government of India and state government of Tamilnadu had failed to control this problem. Two wheelers also ride on the vehicle track so there is no safe ride on NHAI roads in Tamilnadu. So please take severe action in this problems.

. Maka a app which mandatory for all mobile phones. It should track the riding condition to identify road repair needs. . Make a 360 degree camera viee mandatory in all new cars. It would ensure capture of road conditions and reduce accidents enroute. In case of accidents camera recording would help solve cases.

1. Having mechanics/services for car/bike problems on highways is much needed. No need for shops all around highways but a few shops with call & get service at various distance 2.Regulations to avoid accidents and catching harsh drivers 3.App should have feature to report problems with the highways like potholes, damage, accidents , traffic jams, etc 4. For women safety, they should be able to make NHAI track them and if emergency help is needed can ask for help immediately. 5. It should also consider travellers through public buses and guide them with various stops and bus services.
