The responsibilities and duties of NHAI shall be reiterated.
NHAI seems to be too focused on the construction of new highways. The maintenance of highways has taken the back seat.
In this situation, it is suggested to bifurcate the NHAI into two verticals.
1) National Highways Construction Corporation Ltd. (NHCCL) With the main objective of construction of new highways.
2) National Highways Maintenance Corporation Ltd. (NHMCL) With the main objective of Operations and Maintenance of the highways.
The completed highways by NHCCL shall be taken over by NHMCL which shall take over the responsibilities of O&M of highways.
This shall perhaps improve the conditions of highways in India.

There should be a proper sign boards where wild animals cross the National Highway. In some areas it is not visible. Due to this some wild animals and dogs are hit by speeding vehicles.
An awareness among the drivers on drunk and drive should be made. Due to long drive and not taking adequate rest they consume liquor and drive causing accident.
Rash driving among youngsters is also a major problem. An awareness among college students should be done in colleges.

Dear modi ji
National Highways are very important for transportation of goods across the lengths and breadths of India. Their advantages include high speed, greater safety, comfort and convenience for drivers and passengers, and lower vehicle operating costs.
Here are some ideas as follows
1. Highway road should be striaght
2. When ever there is a curve caution board should be displaced and COVEX mIRROR also should be placed
3. On either side of roads , Green Plants , Tress, Flower Plants should be planted to conserve nature
4. Call of POLICe ie police stations sholuld be on the highway road
5. track the high speed vehicles in those zones and alert the vehicle at real time.
6. Use beacon technology
7. Relax zones should be created where Senior citizens, Pregnant women, and Physically Challenged
8. PARKING zones also created
9. Parking BAY for heavy loads lile lorry, bus
10. For women safety, they should be able to make NHAI track them

Having beautiful and wider Highways not prevents the accidents. Something we need figure it out to avoid accidents by implementing the new aged technologies like Machine Learning, Data Science, and Artificial intelligence etc.
if we observe most of accidents 70/100 happen at same place. If government limit the the speed at that accident zones can stop 90% of accidents.
we must track the high speed vehicles in those zines and alert the vehicle at real time.
keeping more speed brakers (in and out) is also good at zones.

Multilevel parkings of LMVs and Open yard parkings of trailer trucks need to be captured in the system. Park & Ride Bus terminals and Railway stations are to be captured in the system.

On road's carriageway white border lines are marked; beyond these lines i.e on the shoulder part of roads nowadays vehicles are being parked as a result pedestrians bound to walk on vehicle carriageway which leads to traffic congestion or accidents. Can we stop such parkings where we do not have pedestrian walkways (footpaths). Pedestrians gets first priority on road, this is being taught by driving schools in developed countries. There are many such examples which I come across from old movies, people stand in queues to board a bus in bus stops, bus conductor restricts people boarding the bus to avoid standing travel, Buses are designed with doors to avoid footboard travel, streets without encroachments, scooters are parked inside the house using portable wooden ramps, more importantly people speak with respect hanji, nahiji, heyboy jarah dekke chelo etc., I think lack of proportionate development in infrastructure is the main cause of many issues today we are facing.
